I am a nursing student and supposed to be in school this morning but on the way to school with the squealing came the check engine light so I know whatever it is is getting worse. I just need someone to give me a suggestion on something else to try. I have spent so much time and money on this car, I do all my own repairs because I have no more money to pay to have it fixed. I have replaced the alternator and belt and I know it is ok plus the sound comes from the front of the car, right by the serpentine belt area. I dont turn my heater on, except for lowest setting only for defrosting purposes. When I turn corners the squealing will start also, that is if it isnt already squealing. It will stop after a while but when I stop at a light and resume driving it will be squealing again same sequence dull sqeal then high pitched squeal. On cold or warm starts the sqealing starts out a dull low squeal then after driving it a few minutes then the high pitched sqealing starts. The car is sqealing from the area of the serpentine belt.
